Julius was completely white, then, with the possibility of being a “snow Bengal”, a particular coloration that is striking and beautiful. As he grew, his coloring darkened. Although he will never be a show quality cat, he is perfect to me!
Bengals are unusual cats. Like dogs, they tend to bond with one person (in this case, me). They love water (really! He comes running whenever a faucet turns on). They are vocal and very intent on getting the attention they deserve…and they also view themselves as the King of the House. My Mom had a dog that stood taller than the kitchen table, a fierce old boy with a bark to match. Julius once stalked and pounced on him just to be sure he knew who was boss while he was here.
Julius is twelve now, and starting to slow down. He no longer likes jumping onto the high shelves we installed in our laundry room for him, and his favorite pastime has changed from tormenting the dogs to a lazy afternoon nap…preferably on my lap or lying on top of the heater vent.
This cat has been my companion since the beginning of my marriage. I can’t imagine my life without him. Nothing cheers me up quite like curling up with Julius and taking a nice cat nap together on a bad day.
It’s hard for me to imagine that there are people out there who will abuse animals who are defenseless and unable to protect themselves, but that is exactly why projects like this one are so important. Anything that can be done to raise awareness for rescue animals, or to aid organizations that train animals to be companions for humans in need, is a great thing to be a part of. I’m proud to be involved with Pets in Space, and so excited to share my story, Escape Run, with everyone.
Here is a small teaser from Escape Run:
Only the most powerful telepaths could pull off something like this. Teegan could count the number she knew personally on one hand. She lived on a planet of Hunters, a people with the primary Talent of tracking and finding anyone, anywhere. Many of them also possessed telepathy, but it rarely manifested as more than a basic Talent among her people.
Getting past her shields would take someone she trusted.
