Will the Silverstar Boxed Set available on Amazon?
All four books from the Silverstar Mates series are now available in a boxed set from Kobo/Kobo Plus, Barnes & Noble, Apple, Smashwords, Overdrive, Borrow Box, and other wide platforms!
Ah, but what about Amazon, you may ask? Rest assured, this is not a decision I made lightly. Basically, the answer comes down to numbers. Amazon’s TOS regarding royalties states that ebooks priced between $2.99-$9.99, an author gets 70% of each sale. Which is completely reasonable, and standard within the industry.
However, for any ebooks priced over $9.99 on Amazon, an author gets only 30% of each sale. (Same thing applies for ebooks priced under $2.99.)
Thirty. Percent.
That’s pretty much a gut-punch when every other non-Amazon seller platform pays authors 70% royalties (or more) for their ebooks, regardless of retail price.
Here’s what the math looks like from an author’s point of view:
$11.96 ebook @ 30% on Amazon = $3.58 royalty.
$2.99 for four individual ebooks @ 70% on Amazon = $8.36 royalties.
$11.96 ebook @ 70% on Kobo, B&N, etc.** = $8.36 royalty.
Kinda a no brainer, right?
The good news is that the Silverstar Mates series is, and will remain, available to purchase as individual ebooks on Amazon. And since $2.99 x 4 = $11.96, all four books can be purchased there for the same price as non-Amazon readers are paying for the boxed set.
Want some more good news? Between you, me, and our sweet friend May Belle, if Amazon ever does change their royalty rates to 70% for ebooks over $9.99, then yes, by all means I will make this digital boxed set available on their platform.
Read on, my peeps!
XOXO

** Apple users: You probably know this, but Apple automatically forces all prices to end in .99. I, on the other hand, distribute through Draft2Digital and discovered this just hours before this set was to go live. If I could single-handedly change their policy on this, I certainly would. :(
